The first time I was able to watch in an IMAX theatre was in Singapore. They had just come out with a Fantasia 2000. Our company was temporarily based in Singapore at the time courtesy of the Millennium Bug. And during those one Saturday afternoon that I took the train to the Singapore Science Centre to visit its Omni-Theatre.
But what makes IMAX ... well IMAX? What makes it a worthwhile place to watch certain types of movies?
IMAX Technology makes it possible to:
1. See crystal-clear images with its projection system
2. Hear laser-aligned digital sound with its sound system
3. See a maximized field of view due to its theatre geometry or shape
The next time I was able to watch IMAX was at the SM Mall of Asia. And now this July - IMAX will be opening shop so to speak at SM North this coming July 16, 2009 when it will be screening Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
